Tracking woodland water use efficiency under future atmospheric conditions

The first paper coming out of the EucFACE experiment is now available online from Functional Ecology. Here, we show that in a future global change scenario, mature trees will be more efficient in their water use, understanding this may only partially mitigate some of the adverse effects of the concomitant rise in temperature. This was a fascinating research project that involved huge amounts of coordination among our research team and our infallible EucFACE technical crew and sometimes even fighting all elements: wind, rain, fire…. Lots of ours spent up in the air, hard work and good doses of fun.
